Scientists from the University of Pittsburgh have developed a method to treat HIV, which may
become an alternative to antiretroviral therapy.

The new approach is based on immunotherapy, where researchers believe their method is more effective than antiretroviral therapy, which includes taking people with HIV, antiretroviral drugs regularly for life. This method is reliable, but it does not allow the immune cells in the body to get rid of the remnants of viruses hidden within them completely.

The new method does not suffer from this deficiency, because it allows detection and destruction of virus copies in the cells. According to scientists, this method helps to fully recover from the disease.

According to the magazine "Futurism" published an article on the new method, that the technology developed by researchers "allow the virus to be expelled from the hiding place and completely eliminated." The new method affects not only HIV, but also the cytomegalovirus, which affects 95% of people with HIV.

The researchers announced that clinical trials of their method would begin soon.
